Kranjska Gora

Kranjska Gora lies in the Zgornjesavska Valley and is situated between the Karavanke Mountains and the Julian Alps. It shares a tri-border between Slovenia, Austria and Italy. It is truly an area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s less than an hours drive from Bled but if you don't have a hire car or fancy making the journey by public transport you can find excursions from Bled that include a short stay in Kranjska Gora, giving you time to explore this 'chocolate box pretty' village and enjoy some refreshment.

Kranjska Gora is an idyllic place for just relaxing and enjoying the fresh mountain air and breathing in the beautiful surroundings against a backdop of the Julian Alps. There are many walking and hiking trails from Kranjska Gora. One of these lovely gentle walks takes you to the pretty village of Podkoren.

Whilst Kranjska Gora is well renowned as a winter ski resort, if you are looking for a summer holiday destination in Slovenia that is tranquil and relaxed then this could be just the place for you.

There are excellent walking opportunities for all abilities. If you fancy a bit of easy cycling then take the dedicated cycle path to Podkoren and just keep going until you cross over the Italian border. This is an easy ride away from the traffic so you can take a leisurely pace and keep stopping to take in the fantastic views. Just remember to take a bottle of water, your passport and of course a camera is a must.
